A Sneak Peek at the Episode

[3:20] You need to have some level of consistency when it comes to posting on social media, depending on what is achievable for you.

[4:29] Batching your content creation for social and scheduling your posts can support you in creating that consistency.

[5:19] If you are selling something to a specific audience, the consistency factor and providing value to your audience is far more important than capitalizing on trends.

[6:24] Nicki and Kate have found that being authentic is much more effective than stock images. You can test this yourself by looking at metrics which show how many people have engaged with your content.

[7:12] Be aware that even if you do get a lot of engagement on something, it doesn’t necessarily mean you should lean into creating more posts on that topic if it is off brand or not in line with what you offer.

[9:16] Be careful about building up an audience of people who are not your target audience. You could end up getting feedback from a large group of people that isn’t necessarily valid.

[10:29] One of the more powerful opportunities for connecting your social media with an ROI is ManyChat. Nicki and Kate explain how this tool has been effective in boosting visibility of their content, automating interactions, keeping users engaged on the platform, and growing their email list.

[16:50] Nicki and Kate recommend using hashtags but to automate it where possible. The tool Later can help you organize your hashtags, saving them into groups so you can easily add them to captions.

[18:35] Mixing content types like reels, carousels, and stories, along with repurposing successful posts, helps maximize engagement and reach on social media.

[20:16] Paid ads can help boost your organic social strategy and using the “link in bio” feature effectively means followers can easily access relevant information and sign up for offers.

[22:40] Kate advises Circuit Sales System students to use the “link in bio” feature to direct followers to their Circuit and to use story highlights and pinned posts to encourage opt-ins for the free training. It’s important to maintain a clear path back to the opt-in offer, even when sharing external content like podcasts.

[25:24] Keep an eye on your DMs! Even if you automate some parts, this is a great place to continue engaging with your audience and invite people to watch your free training.

[27:12] Consider tracking metrics to understand how social contributes to your business’s growth. For example, Nicki and Kate monitor how many people opt into the free training via story highlights, their bio link, and their ManyChat flows.

[27:55] A common pitfall for business owners is jumping into social media without a strategy. Your content should eventually lead to revenue, so be intentional about what you post on each platform.

Must-Hear Takeaways

As with every episode, we highly encourage you to listen to the entire conversation! But, here are a few of the highlights:

“It’s very unlikely that if you are selling something to a specific audience, the way most course creators and group program creators are, it’s very unlikely that even if your reel goes viral, that it’s going to be reaching the right audience anyway and for the right reasons. So even I think that this goal of like, “Oh, I want this to go viral”, it doesn’t matter if it goes viral. If it’s not in front of anybody who’s actually going to follow you or purchase from you, then it’s 100% a vanity outcome.” – Nicki

“We found that reels, they seem like they made a huge splash initially, but our carousel and static images sometimes perform just as well. And having a mix of types of content really helps us. So stories have been hugely beneficial to us and we’re seeing how we can repurpose work that we’re doing on posts and reels to have a story version or share a reel to story. Definitely share your reels to story because why not? That’s like two clicks and you didn’t have to create anything else, which is beautiful. But we’d recommend seeing what your audience most responds to when it comes to topics and format. It’s sure to vary audience to audience.” – Kate

“I think the pitfall that some business owners fall into is, “Well, I need to be posting on socials. I’m just going to post on social. I’m just going to do this. I’ve seen somebody do this, so I’m going to do this.” Doing anything without strategy as a business owner is generally going to be a waste of time. Anything that you go into without figuring out why you’re going to do it and what you’re hoping to get and how you’re going to measure that outcome, is just a recipe for wasted time and energy, if not also wasted money.” – Nicki
