[2:20] Kate’s going to interview Nicki on this episode, so we can learn more about how Nicki grew her business so quickly in just two years.
[3:37] Nicki got created her first course in 2012 teaching people to become professional copywriters. She originally thought “if I build it, they will come.” That didn’t happen and Nicki soon realized she needed to figure out a way to sell this program.
[9:33] There weren’t many things Nicki didn’t try when it came to getting her course in front of people…challenges, live launches, email funnels, evergreen…but they all fell flat.
[11:41] It was in 2018 when Nicki switched her focus to what she was knew best: messaging and the customer journey. She made it her mission to find a system that she could set up, let it run, and let it sell for her (while selling to people on their timeline and when they were most excited).
[14:33] After realizing that prospective customers were replying to mass emails as if they were only written for them individually, Nicki realized that she could still generate the excitement of a live launch, without having to do it live.
[16:55] In 2018, Nicki made $40,000 in her copywriting training course business—the most she’d ever made. At the end of that year, she created and implemented the Circuit Sales System and went on to make $268,000 in 2019 and $1.6M in 2020.
[20:03] As Nicki’s revenue started to become more predictable with her new sales system revenue, she was able to grow the Nicki K Media team and offload tasks.
[25:14] The idea to create the Circuit Sales System was born out of other entrepreneurs asking for system makes sales automatically without live launching. It took six months to set up and launch the Circuit Sales System.
[26:52] By not having to focus on live launching, Nicki and the team can focus more on their paying students. They provide value through free events for students that they know will have an impact.
[28:28] The courses that Nicki has created have gone on to completely transform people’s lives, not just financially, but also in terms of freedom and flexibility.
[33:10] Nicki’s journey didn’t come without struggles. At one point, she had built up $55K on a credit card but having the right mindset made it possible for Nicki to pursue her dream (and pay it off in a matter of months after launching her first Circuit).
[39:22] Continuing to show up each day and be persistent is the key, while continuing to evaluate which tactics are working. You don’t have to do something (like live launching) just because some “guru” online says you have to.
[44:42] What’s next for Nicki and her team? Finding special ways to support students, continuing to build the business, and taking care of the team.
