Do you have a list that’s burned out, confused, and exhausted by the way you’re trying to engage with them? CSS student Krista joins us today to show us that it *is* possible to turn it around.
After getting into a cycle of throwing an offer out there, and—almost too predictably—discounting it to squeeze out more revenue, Krista’s credibility started to erode. In this episode, Krista joins Nicki and Kate to discuss how introducing a Circuit re-engaged her list, built integrity, and led to a conversion rate of 15%!

A Sneak Peek at the Episode
[3:10] CSS student Krista Lockwood owns Motherhood Simplified, which offers courses to teach moms how to declutter their homes.
[5:19] Krista’s journey began by building a community through a Facebook group, where she ran mini challenges to help her understand her audience’s needs.
[6:32] She turned one of her challenges into a $7 digital product, gradually evolving it into the course she has today. But as she gained momentum, it became challenging to track what worked and didn’t work.
[7:55] Before finding the CSS, Krista was in a cycle of doing a launch to build up some revenue and buy some time to figure out what to do next—except she never did figure it out. It was unsustainable and slowly eroded her credibility with her audience as her offers became too predictable..
[10:33] Instead of just throwing things out there like when she was live launching, her Circuit is structured enough to actually test and tweak in a consistent way.
[11:28] The market research element of the course allowed her to refocus her energy on her audience’s struggles. She sent out the free training to her entire list and had a conversion rate of 15%!
[14:22] Krista’s Circuit provided freedom for new ideas, like decluttering supplemental tracks, which would not have been possible before when her focus was constantly on selling.
[15:49] One of the most surprising parts of running the Circuit was that her full price offer sells just as well—if not better—than her initial offer.
[17:13] With the initial Circuit that she sent out, Krista was very explicit in telling her audience that she would no longer be decreasing the prices of her offer (like she had done previously). This helped to build integrity and create predictability for her own revenue.
[19:38] Krista hasn’t given up the live element completely. But now she can do it just once a year rather than all of the time and gets more enjoyment from them.
[20:33] One of the struggles Krista has faced is realizing that even if you gave everything away for free, somebody is still going to be mad that you didn’t give them enough. But the structure of the Circuit and knowing that it works has made it easier to take that kind of feedback and not make it mean something about her.
[24:23] With her newfound creative freedom, Krista has found a new love for her podcast and a lot more space to create social content that converts.
[26:24] Krista advises anyone who is interested in the CSS to go for it. It gives entrepreneurs the boundaries, structure, and consistency they’re often lacking.

Must-Hear Takeaways
As with every episode, we highly encourage you to listen to the entire conversation! But, here are a few of the highlights:
“They were burned out and also confused and exhausted by the way I was trying to engage with them. I was exhausted by the way I was trying to talk to them because it was almost from this place of desperation, rather than what it used to be from me, which was ‘I really understand you and I really know how to help you.'” – Krista
“I’ve found a new love for my podcast which is nice because the podcast and going live in my Facebook group was what I did when I started and I got to where I didn’t really enjoy it because I didn’t really remember what to say to people and I felt all this pressure to sell to people. Now I have a lot more space to create social content. I don’t particularly love being on social media unless I’m creating content that’s fun and finds people that are meant to be. And so I’ve had a lot of creative freedom creating reels that have the messaging that pull in the right people and it’s very easy to convert them.” – Krista
“I think that was the biggest thing for me, when you’re an entrepreneur online, you don’t usually start with a team or with other people who can show you where your blind spots are or give you insight into where your boundaries need to be stronger. So if you struggle with those kinds of things, the boundaries, the structure, the consistency, just get it because you will be able to take it and use it but then it will naturally be something you can apply to all the other areas of your business.” – Krista
